London Craft Week comes to Belgravia


Marquetry at Linley 60 Pimlico Road, Belgravia, SW1W 8LP Talk, Wed 3 May, 6.30pm-7.30pm Exhibition, Wed 3 - Fri 5 May 10.00am-6.00pm, Sat 6 May 10.00am -5.00pm Linley exhibits the art of marquetry, centering on the Vortex cabinet, a visually ingenious piece of art furniture. Additionally, the company’s new Belgravia gallery space is hosting an exhibition of photographs celebrating the 120th anniversary of Country Life magazine. The Interiors Editor of Country Life, Giles Kime, and David Snowdon, Chairman of Linley, will discuss the role of craft in a digital age.

Soane Britain: Creating Interiors 50-52 Pimlico Road, Belgravia, SW1W 8LP Wed 3 May, 6.00pm Soane Britain invites established, emerging and future interior designers to meet a selection of makers and antique dealers, to discuss sourcing inspiration for creating new designs. Antique craftsmanship at Soane Britain 50-52 Pimlico Rd, Belgravia, London SW1W 8LP Wed 3 - Sat 6 May, 10.00am - 5.00pm Lulu Lytle, founder of Soane Britain, has identified 5 antique dealers, all champions of their particular subject and from whom she has learned over the last 20 years, to exhibit some of the favourite pieces from their collections (both permanent and selling.)

Wallpaper with Allyson McDermott and Rose Uniacke 76 Pimlico Road, SW1W 8PL Talk Wed 3 May, time tbc Exhibition Wed 3 - Sun 7 May, 9.30am - 6.00pm Wallpaper historian Allyson McDermott co-hosts a demonstration and talk with contemporary furniture maker Rose Uniacke. Together, they explain the process of recreating some of the most iconic hand-printed papers from the last century, from Harewood House to the House of Lords. Uniacke demonstrates the art that has outperformed any other modern day technique of replicating and restoring such intricate designs.

Carving out the Future at Howe 93 Pimlico Road, SW1W 8PH Bespoke furniture maker Howe presents a demonstration of woodworking. The event offers an exclusive preview into a skill that has been honed over many years. Inviting one of their most longstanding makers who has worked with Howe from the very first bespoke design, the event will be showcasing pieces as seen in The National Gallery, Strawberry Hill House and the V&A Museum.

Commissioning Silver with Hal Messel hosted by Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler 89-91 Pimlico Road, Belgravia, SW1W 8PH

Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler showcase the work of Artistic Silversmith Hal Messel with examples of his work including drawings, photographs and finished pieces. Hal will also be giving a talk (5.30pm Thurs 4 May) on his work with an emphasis

Billy Lloyd presents The Vinegar Vase at Daylesford 44B Pimlico Road, Belgravia, SW1W 8LP Daylesford’s Pimlico Road Farmshop will host an event demonstrating the benefits and versatility of the modern ceramic fermentation crock. This coincides with the launch of a new collection of vinegar vases, designed by Billy Lloyd for the newly established brand Cult Ceramics.
