St Pauls Church & HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
His late Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
(10th June 1921- 9th April 2021)

Prince Philip, whose death has been announced, was a regular visitor to St Paul's Knightsbridge, and was formally represented at many Memorial Services. He is pictured here on his last visit, at the funeral of his cousin, The Countess Mountbatten of Burma, in 2017. On that occasion we were forcibly reminded that behind the glare and scrutiny of life in the public eye, members of the Royal Family are also simply a family, confronted by the same joys and sorrows as any family. We all know what death and loss feel like. There will be opportunity on Sunday for us to pray together at the mass for the repose of the soul of Prince Philip, and also on the day of his funeral. Today, shall we pray especially for The Queen and her family in their sadness.
Almighty God, the Father of all mercies and giver of all comfort: deal graciously, we pray, with those who mourn, that, casting all their care upon thee, they may know the consolation of thy love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
